But I Want A Ferrari!
Celebrity culture and capitalism are joined at the hip, that's why celebrities will never fight the hand that feeds - some may feign or perform to, but in truth, they are willing participants in all aspects capitalism simply because it benefits them.
And that's the thing isn't it - individualism. (me me me me me)
"Forbes list here we come, whooo!"
Even organisations that are seen as 'for the people' end up having individuals that are significantly benefiting due to capitalism.
The Mozilla Foundation, a non-profit organization, paid a former CEO a compensation of approximately $6.9 million in 2022, and that's just a fraction of what for profit companies pay their CEOs - upwards of $250 million(see Blackstone Inc.)
It's ridiculously frustrating, that we have a whole world which is fucking huge and bountiful, so plugged into this one mindset - capitalism, and that even giving a moments thought as to why anyone needs to be a millionaire feels like heresy - okay 😅, a little dramatic, I know, but the conditioning is very fucking real.
"okay, so are people supposed to work for free? how are people supposed to eat, live and survive?"
Hmm, maybe begin with everyone having their own means of production? You know, not having to sell your labour for survival kinda thing..
"but I want a Ferrari!"
