Is This Just Fanta Sea
When I was 'on the grind'(Tony Hawk's Pro Skater anyone?😄) trying to 'apply myself' and working full-time, there was this one evening where I found myself half passed out from exhaustion, still with the dinner plate in hand and food in mouth.
As I slowly began to wake up from it all, trying to figure out what was happening. The realisation then hit me - this isn't the first time this has happened.
It's funny looking back at when this used to happen before I got on the 'wheel'. Not sure what the proper term or word is for it but basically when you eat too much and kinda suddenly fall asleep. Haha. Yeah, those were the good times of 'ignorance is bliss' - ah yaya.. how some days I wish for that ignorance.. but here's the thing, once you see it, there's no going back.
Anyway, once I got my bearings and realised I hadn't spilled any food(thankfully) I began thinking more on what just happened, why it happened and why it's been happening and the more it kept happening, the more I had a better understanding of why, when and what would cause it and in the end, it all led back to the grind.
And that's just it isn't it.
It's a literal grinding of one's self and being, you have to grind yourself down to almost nothing for survival - picture this:
..the selling of one's labour, of which you're paid by people buying your labour, to then pay them that same money back for goods and services that you need to survive to continue selling your labour..
When people do not have and own their own means of production, which is by design, this is what we get: a continuous vicious cycle of exploitation and inequality.
When this all landed I was like, "what the fuck exactly am I doing here?", and then I remembered that meme:
And then I was like, "wait.. am I also a commodity?"
Oh how the disillusionment kicked in, and it kicked in like a fucking kangaroo. 😄 If in the end the whole thing wears you down so much that you pass out while eating your dinner - then what are we doing here?!
And I know there are people in far worse situations, which just dials-up the heat on all of this..
And of course there was a significant amount of 'feedback' about this when I started talking about it but in the end I was like..
"wait, there's an amount of exploitation and inequality that is okay with you? The fuck you on about Ford?"
Capitalism is all fucked, there is no area or aspect of it that is 'okay' because if 'selling your labour for survival' doesn't light up a neuron or two, then weehh... just... heh..
