Nanii!!!

Anime, jameni.. You'll be there thinking..
"oh, this looks interesting, lemme check it out" and then baam!

If it's not the paedophilia, it's the objectification of women, if it's not the objectification, it's the incest, if it's not the incest, it's the gender stereotypes... and the list goes on and on - and some may say, "maybe it's the genre you're watching".. eeeh, nope.

It really doesn't matter what genre you watch, one way or another it's gonna pop-up eventually and absolutely outta nowhere at times.

How any of this gets past the scripting phase is mind boggling, and yes, most anime is based off of manga and even then, how does any of that make it past the first draft?

like what the fuck is going on here?

This is a whole multi-billion dollar industry that relies and thrives on these themes and it's absolutely ridiculous that it has and still exists in its current form(there's an anime meme here buuuut not today).

Then there are those who would defend and argue along the lines of 'cultural differences' and 'target audience' which is never going to hold any water and in-turn says a lot about oneself on where they stand with such themes and depictions in media and entertainment.

Especially taking into account that anime's main target audience is teens and more specifically boys, this just makes it all the more fucked up and of course adds to the already prevalent issue that is sexism and misogyny by reinforcing and validating them...

I guess this goes to show that when it comes to sexism and misogyny - cultural differences do not exist.
