Sometimes, All It Takes Is Exposure
My first experience with Apple products was in 2006. I was gifted an iPod Nano which was awesome, the thing is, I had no idea how to use it. 😅
Apple products were almost non-existent at the time and even knowing someone who knew how to use them wasn't easy to come by, fortunately though, I knew someone. 😄
I didn't even try plugging it in at home or fiddling with it, I went straight to my classmate and was like, "yo, just put whatever you have on it" and they were like, "my taste in music may be a little different to what you like" and to be honest, I really didn't care because either way there was nothing I could do on my end and so I patiently waited until they were done 'syncing' - as I later came to learn was the term iTunes used to transfer from its library to an iPod.
Fast forward a day or two and I had my iPod back, it was loaded with a bunch of albums and hundreds of songs, none of which were familiar to me but I was like "let's do this!". 😄 Put the earphones in, swiped through the songs, picked one randomly and hit play... and that was the beginning of my journey into metal and heavy metal music and what a journey it has been. 😊
I sometimes think back to such moments in my life, realising that it really does make a difference when exposed to different aspects of life especially at an early age. I know journeys can begin at any point in life: experiencing something new or coming across a different path to venture unto, whether at 6 years old or at 60 years old, in both scenarios, I'm pretty sure that exposure plays a significant role.
