They Must Help, Right?
Kenyans are rightly furious as to why their candidate, William Ruto, for the OCCRP’s 2024 Corrupt Person of the Year, which was the popular vote, did not win the title and the response from Kenyans has been right on the money(pun intended) - if indeed you already had a winner, why ask for votes that don't matter in the first place?
Evidently, it's down to whom is writing the cheques and therefore the narrative, which in this case is the propagation of western imperialism and neocolonialism.
It's quite unfortunate for those that are unaware, that for decades and most likely since their inception, most international bodies(UN, WHO, IMF, ICC, US-AID etc) that champion human rights, social justice and freedoms are actually counter to the very things they talk about and have already set their agenda from the start - especially towards the global majority and because of this, people appeal to and believe these bodies are on their side or will take their side when in truth, they are built from the start to work against them at every fucking turn – and then some.
I myself have been there, thinking that surely they will do something about the bullshit that is going on right? All I have to do is let them know and they'll come fighting for what is right, right? I mean, that's what their website says, something along the lines of 'truth, justice' and I guess ‘helping’ right? They surely must have the power to do something right? Look at all the suffering and pain, they must help right... right?
Then I remember things like the United Nations Resolution 181.
basically, they don't give a fuck about you
It's not always easy seeing the workings behind the curtain but it's also up-to us to give some thought on what these bodies are about, try to conduct some due diligence - who funds them, their history, what do other people and countries say about them, especially from the global majority.
If it's not transparent then just toss that shit into the counter-ops bin because more often than not - they are.
